The Government's Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) could give you up to £7,500 off the cost of an air source heat pump. We handle the paperwork — you just enjoy the savings.
As an MCS-accredited installer, Eastheat can apply for your BUS grant directly — you don't need to do a thing.
Check Your Eligibility →The Boiler Upgrade Scheme — or BUS — is a UK Government initiative designed to help homeowners move away from gas and oil boilers towards cleaner, renewable heating. Rather than paying the full cost of a heat pump upfront, eligible homeowners receive a grant that's deducted directly from the installation bill.
The grant doesn't come to you directly — your installer claims it on your behalf, and you simply pay the reduced amount. That means less hassle and no waiting around for a rebate.
Homeowners and landlords in England and Wales who are replacing a fossil fuel heating system (gas, oil or electric) with a qualifying heat pump. You must use an MCS-certified installer — which we are.
Yes. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme is currently open for applications. Grant amounts and eligibility criteria are reviewed periodically, so it's worth acting sooner rather than later. Get in touch and we'll confirm the latest position.
The BUS scheme offers a fixed grant per installation type. The amount is deducted directly from your invoice — no complicated claims processes on your end.
The most popular option for homes in Norwich and Norfolk. Ideal for most property types with suitable outdoor space for the unit.
Uses the stable temperature underground to heat your home. Suitable for properties with sufficient outdoor land available.
The grant covers the heat pump unit and installation. It doesn't cover additional works such as new radiators, underfloor heating upgrades or cylinder replacements — though we'll advise you upfront on anything that may be needed.
Most homeowners in England and Wales with an existing fossil fuel heating system will qualify. Here's a quick checklist of what you'll need to tick off.
You own the property. The BUS grant is available to homeowners and landlords. You don't need to live in the property to qualify as a landlord applicant.
The property is in England or Wales. Scotland and Northern Ireland have their own separate schemes.
You have a valid EPC with no outstanding insulation recommendations. If your EPC flags loft or cavity wall insulation, you'll need to address that first — we can advise on this.
You're replacing a fossil fuel system. Gas, oil, or direct electric heating all qualify. You cannot use the grant to replace an existing heat pump.
You use an MCS-accredited installer. This is a requirement of the scheme — and it's exactly what we are. Without MCS accreditation, no grant can be claimed.
The claims process is handled almost entirely by us. You don't need to contact Ofgem, fill in any forms or chase anything up. Here's how it works from start to finish.
Call us or use our contact form. We'll ask a few questions about your property to confirm you're likely to be eligible before arranging a visit.
One of our engineers will visit your property to carry out a full heat loss survey and confirm the right system for your home. We'll provide a clear, fixed quote — no hidden extras.
Once you're happy to go ahead, we submit the BUS grant application to Ofgem on your behalf before any work starts. We handle all the paperwork.
We carry out the full installation to MCS standards. Our team will leave everything clean and tidy, and walk you through how to use your new system.
The grant is deducted from your invoice directly. You pay the balance — not the full cost — and we redeem the voucher with Ofgem. Simple as that.
Give us a call or drop us a message and we'll talk you through your options. We're a local Norwich business and we'll give you an honest answer — not a sales pitch.
